Be it an old print or painting, a family photograph that has passed through the generations, or an old frame that has had a bit of a knock around, we can help bring them back to their former glory.

Using our list of trusted restoration experts, and our team, much of the damage sustained to artwork and frames can be improved upon.

Do you do the work in house?

This depends on the work being done.

All artwork restoration is outsourced to trained conservators, all of whom have a different kind of specialty, be it a focus on photographs, paintings, fabrics, frame restoration, the list goes on.

For most frame repairs and reglazes, yes this is all in house done by our team, and only outsourced when a frame is particularly specialised and needs to go to a conservator.

This is the same for retouching, much of this is done in house but outsourced to the appropriate specialists when the job exceeds our abilities.

We’ll handle the outsourcing though! Our team will organise this with the professionals on your behalf, and keep you in the loop.

Everything that goes off site is done with your permission, and all costs will be run past you for approval before work commences.

Art Restoration

Have you ever seen a print that has been framed for a long time and noticed brown spots on the paper? This is foxing, which is the result of acidity developing either in the substrate of the artwork itself or the various boards surrounding it in the frame.

Another common one is cracking paint and discoloured vanish on acrylic and oil paintings, both from age and environmental factors.

These are just some of the many things that can damage to your artwork over the years, and many things can be rectified through an art restorer.

Anything of value, either monetary or personal, is a good candidate to go through the process to help ensure their longevity.

Think your artwork may be a candidate/want to have something tidied up before a fresh framing job? Our team will be able to advise you on the best course of action, and then call in the best professional conservator for the job. We have several we outsource restoration to depending on their specialty, all of whom are fantastic at what they do.

Digital Retouching

We all have those old family photographs that have a variety of scratches and tears from a hard life being passed down the generations.

Sometimes, there isn’t anything that can be done to repair damage to photographs with an art restorer, but scanning and digitally retouching can at least bring a family heirloom to a presentable state for reprinting and framing, or for digital safekeeping.

Using our high end photographic scanner, we can easily get a high resolution digital version of all your precious items, and retouch any damage, all on site.

Ask our team about your piece and what the options are.

Frame Repairs and Reglazing

We know, it happens. Maybe the movers didn’t take enough care, it fell off the wall, or the kids bumped into it. A good custom frame is designed to last you a long time, and as they go through life with you, they sometimes get a bit knocked around.

Not all damage is a death sentence for your frame!

Depending on what has happened, we may be able to repair it instead of replace it, bringing it back to its former glory.

Or if the glass broke, we can help with that too. This happens surprisingly often. Just handle all broken glass with care and get it to us as carefully as you can.

Bring your damaged frames in store and chat to the team so we can assess them and advise you on the best steps forward.

They can’t always be fixed, but we will always give you the best advice and options we can.
