Art Restoration

Have you ever seen a print that has been framed for a long time and noticed brown spots on the paper? This is foxing, which is the result of acidity developing either in the substrate of the artwork itself or the various boards surrounding it in the frame. This is one of many things that can damage to your artwork over the years, and many things can be rectified through an art restorer, like:

  • damaged paint patches

  • foxing and other discolouration of paper

  • works stuck down to a backing board

Anything of value, either monetary or personal, is a good candidate to go through the process to help ensure their longevity.

Think your artwork may be a candidate/want to have something tidied up before a fresh framing job? Our team will be able to advise you on the best course of action and, if need be, arrange for the restorer to come on site and have a look.

Digital retouching

We all have those old family photographs that have a variety of scratches and tears from a hard life being passed down the generations.

Sometimes, there isn’t anything that can be done to repair damage to photographs with an art restorer, but scanning and digitally retouching can at least bring a family heirloom to a presentable state for framing or for digital safekeeping.

Using our high end photographic scanner, we can easily get a high resolution digital version of all your precious items, and retouch any damage, all on site.

Ask our team about your piece and what the options are.

Frame repairs

We know, it happens. Maybe the movers didn’t take enough care (they never do), it fell off the wall, or the kids bumped into it. A good custom frame is designed to last you a long time, and as they go through life with you, they sometimes get a bit knocked around.

Not all damage is a death sentence for your frame!

Depending on what has happened, we may be able to repair it instead of replace it, bringing it back to its former glory.

Bring them in store and chat to the team so we can assess the damage and advise you on the best steps forward. They can’t always be fixed, but we will always give you the best options.
